The luxury skincare launches to have on your radar

The luxury skincare launches to have on your radar
Beauty's luxury players are embracing advanced science to bring about skin transformation and stave off the signs of aging with a host of new products.

These days we expect a lot from our skincare. It needs to be hydrating, protecting and help our complexion appear to be the best version it can be, regardless of our age.

Needless to say, the biggest power players in the beauty industry are rising to this challenge, investing huge money in skincare research and development to produce topical products that are designed to bring about real, visible improvements.

This time of year is a popular time to launch new developments as it’s leading into the northern winter, when skin is seeing the after effects of a summer in the sun, and leading into the gifting season.

For us down under, recovering skin from the dryness and dehydration of winter means paying extra care and attention to what we’re using topically is of equal importance.

That being said, these new arrivals are useful any time of year, and largely focus on treating and minimising the signs of aging. Increased attention is also places on countering sagging, one of the bugbears many of us have thanks to a natural loss of collagen and elastin as we age.  Lifting and firming skin is difficult and usually only achieved with appearance medicine treatments like injectable dermal fillers and to a lesser extent botulinum toxin treatments. However new ingredient science is making some gains in the area and this is certainly the target of many new releases.

While purchasing these new products may require a significant splurge, the brands are at the top of their game when it comes to giving you your best skin ever.

Meet the crème de la crème of the beauty world right now:

Dior Prestige Le Nectar Premier

Dior Prestige Le Nectar

Dior’s new serum aims to slow the signs of aging using an isolated peptide from the brand’s signature rose harvested in Granville, Normandy that apparently has unique regenerative properties. This revitalising peptide, said to be rich in 99 beneficial molecules, is infused into the formula of the divine serum, along with a number of other key ingredients. Together they target three key changes in skin, improving volume, texture and radiance.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream

A true icon of luxury skin care, La Prairie was founded over 40 years ago in Switzerland, taking the learnings of cellular science and applying them to skincare. One of its major discoveries was the power and unique properties of caviar. Since the original Skin Caviar cream was developed in 1987, the dreamy cream and its supporting skincare line has been regularly updated with the latest developments. The brand new iteration has an additional lifting and firming focus using newly-developed caviar ‘micro-nutrients’, a source of 300 micro-nutrients intended to support skin’s structure from the inside out. It comes in two textures: rich cream is rich, extra-hydrating and velvety while the sheer version has a lighter, airy texture but just as beneficial to skin.

Chanel LE LIFT PRO Masque Uniformité

The word “lift” is a repetitive phenomenon right now and this gorgeous gel mask from Chanel is no different. The third addition to Chanel’s Le Lift Pro franchise, the mask contains niacinamide, centella asiatica and an enzyme in honey sourced from Melipona bees in Costa Rica to address signs of aging including tackling dark spots while boosting elasticity.

La Mer The Lifting Firming Serum

Powered by La Mer’s famous youth-boosting Miracle Broth made from sustainably harvested giant sea kelp that brings with it a number of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, this new arrival has a new ‘Restructuring Ferment’ added to the mix, which aims to help support skin’s density and add quenching hydration for a more voluminous look.

Sisley Paris Supremÿa At Night The Supreme Anti-Aging Skin Care and At Night Anti-Aging Cream

Sisley Paris Supremÿa At Night The Supreme Anti-Aging Skin Care

Sisley Paris has just released Supremÿa At Night Anti-Aging Cream and Supremÿa At Night The Supreme Anti-Aging Skin Care, both focusing on regenerating the skin at night, bringing new meaning to the word ‘beauty sleep’. The new products are an evolution of the Supremya range that first launched in 2009, and the science contained in the two new products promote a number of anti-ageing actions within skin, from visible lifting to improved elasticity.

Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Rapid Skin-Renewing Water Cream

Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Rapid Skin Renewing Water Cream

This lightweight water cream contains a precise dose of pure retinol as well as a potent, next-generation retinol ingredient called HPR (hydroxypinacolone retinoate). The two powerhouse retinoids used together are responsible for a game-changing ‘10x more potent’ figure the brand is touting, that promises impressive skin regeneration.

It discards a number of previous notions of retinol, given that the new retinol combo is enveloped in a modern, hydrating formula with additional ceramides. Remarkably it’s active, but gentle enough for sensitive skin types, something than can be a challenge with retinol, and you can use it morning and night too.  Instead of a serum it’s a lightweight, powerhouse moisturiser to be used after cleansing so you can cut down your time spent in front of the mirror!
