Right now the draw is stronger than ever, and that might just be because it seems like everyone is getting ‘Bardot Bangs.’
The fringe shape is named after the iconic French actress Brigitte Bardot, who styled her thick blonde hair into tousled waves, characterised by a parted fringe.
Her look involved a more defined full fringe than the more wispy ‘curtain bangs‘ or ‘bottleneck bangs‘ that have been popular, but still graduated slightly into the rest of her cut. The eyelash-skimming, face-framing strands perfectly accentuated her captivating eyes and elegant bone structure.
The new wave of Bardot Bangs fans includes plenty of celebrities, but perhaps pop singer Sabrina Carpenter is the most well-known proponent of the look right now. Though the US singer has a cutesy style, the parted fringe works well no matter your age or taste, and also finds fans in Halle Berry, Dakota Johnson and Julia Roberts.
Carpenter’s hairstylist Scott King recently admitted Bardot was the vision behind her blonde ‘do.
“Brigitte Bardot is always the inspo. We just love a fluffy blowout,” he explained.
King uses rollers to set the singer’s style, and finshes the look by using a touch of texturising spray for movement and shape.
If you’re thinking of adopting the look for yourself, ask your hairdresser for ‘Bardot Bangs’ that have shorter strands at the front of the forehead and longer layers at the temples, which blend into the hair’s lengths.
The look is designed to be effortless and sexy, with a versatile style that can be worn messy, shaggy, or smooth.
