Well, we warned you. Just weeks ago we declared 2024 would be the year of the bob.
Now, we have two further examples of just how much it’s sticking.
Margot Robbie is known to be fairly classic with her style when it comes to hair, makeup and fashion styling, save for her ‘Barbie’ blip, where where everything was very theme-based, from head-to-toe.
So it’s definitely news when the Australian star changes up her hair, even it it’s not exactly a radical makeover.
Perhaps because of her commitment to the aforementioned movie role, we haven’t seen Robbie with shorter hair since 2018, when she rocked a chin-length style. So it was head-turning to see her step out at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in LA with a brand-new chop.
Robbie’s hair stylist for the event, Christopher Farmer, shared a photo of her new hairstyle on his Instagram, hinting that he may have been responsible for the new length, but didn’t share any further details.
Robbie’s style fits in the the ‘dad bob’ hair trend being talked about right now. The ‘dad bob’ refers to a a slightly longer, blockier bob with a relaxed but smooth finish and tucked-under ends that fall somwhere between the chin and collarbone. It’s beginning to be seen on fashion influencers that also love to wear chunky ‘dad sneakers’ and loose-fit dad jeans, hence the name.
Another recent proponent? The ever-influential Hailey Bieber, a bob fan from way back, who rocked a new version for this weekend’s trip to California’s Coachella music festival.
Bieber’s mid-brown hue was recently updated to an shiny ‘chocolate box brunette’ but the new cut has further contributed to her trend-setting ways.
She wore it with a touch of volume and the perfect retro ’90s flip, easily recreated by turning ends under with a straightening iron.
