Prince Harry may currently be on the solo leg of his family’s Royal Tour of Africa, but wife Meghan Markle found a way to call in and support his message to the young women of Malawi.
There was a huge cheer as the Duchess of Sussex popped up on a large TV screen to take part in her husband’s visit to Nalikule College.
Prince Harry was there to meet alumni of CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education Alumnae Association), a charity working to empower girls by keeping them in school and providing them with the best possible education.
The charity is also is aligned with The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
But even though Meghan is back in South Africa with baby Archie, the Duchess was eager to take part in the visit by any means possible.
Female empowerment is an issue close to her heart and the Duchess was able to share her support via Skype.
In one video shared to social media you can hear the women singing, “Duchess Wathu, Duchess Wamayankho” which translates to, “Our Duchess, Duchess with the solutions.”
CAMFED is an alumnae network of over 100,000 young women hoping to break the cycle and driving change in their communities.
The women at the discussion wouldn’t have been able to attend secondary school without the help of CAMFED). On average, each CAMA current member supports an additional three children to go to school.
