“Hair with movement” asserts Joico ambassador and owner of Cocoon Hair Design, Felicity Bruce, on what will trend for cuts and styling this year.
Waves and curls!! Whether it’s beachy, bouncy or glam. Short or long. The hot tools will be out to help those without natural movement.”
It’s a trend that asserts itself in one of the key looks emerging this season.
A development of the most-wanted cut of 2021, the bob, the ‘bixie’ is the new style to know, and adopt, right now.
In particular, the much-talked about bixie is a cut that has length between a bob and the very short pixie, but with feathered, layered ends like you see in a pixie.
Some are worn longer at the back for a rounded shape, particularly if your hair is curly, but the key theme for this short, choppy style is tousled texture and movement.
Unsurprisingly, given its heavy influence of beauty in general right now, this trend borrows elements of looks that were big in the 90s. Think of the likes of Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Meg Ryan, and Gwyneth Paltrow and their choppy crops of the era.
This time round, there’s a new A-list gang all over the look and their embrace of the bixie – and the way they each adapt it to suit their style and personality – will almost certainly inspire a new host of us to embrace a shorter look, be it soft and pretty or tough and edgy.
Here are just a few of the celebrity early adopters helping this trend spread like wildfire:
