A Royal Pavlova in honour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to New Zealand

Auckland’s boutique ice cream store, Giapo, has created a royal combo that deserves its own regal title – the humble pav paired with the store’s renowned ice cream.

Whilst we’ve been patiently awaiting the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in New Zealand, the team over at Giapo have designed a creation to honour their first visit as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

With a baby on the way, there’s even more reason to celebrate their touch down in the country. Giapo have decided to incorporate New Zealand’s pride and joy – the one and only, the timeless, the classic pav – with their ice cream – another of New Zealand’s treasures – to create: the Royal Pavlova Creation.

The creation features two cones side-by-side, representing Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex during their recent nuptials, and announcement of their precious impending arrival. The cones are topped with what Giapo calls a “New Zealand summer pavlova, all dressed up for the Royal occasion”. The pavlova is piped on, topped with ice cream and then a crown of local blueberries and strawberries – some covered with 24-carat gold leaf.
