Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, sailed to victory with a British crew in a race against New Zealand on Sunday. The royal joined British Olympic gold medalist Ben Ainslie for the friendly Commonwealth race.

The Duchess is the Patron of the 1851 Trust, the official charity of the Great Britain SailGP team. The charity organisation focuses on sustainability initiatives within sport.

The teams raced in F50 catamarans, which organisers say can reach speeds of more than 52 knots (96.6 kilometres per hour).

The Great Britain Sail Grand Prix, a two-day event finished on Sunday, was held in Plymouth Sound in the southwest English county of Devon.
