Create Nicole Kidman’s sleek Grammy’s look

In demand Hollywood hair stylist David Babaii, who also styled Nicole’s hair for the SAG Awards and Producer’s Guild Awards in recent weeks, created Nicole’s sleek look using products from his recently re-branded, re-formulated DAVID BABAII hair care collection at the Grammy’s.

“The cut is the foundation for any look,” says David, who began by cutting Nicole’s hair into a true, blunt bob with no layering.

For control while cutting, David sprayed Nicole’s locks with the Miracle Elixir Nourishing Oil (RRP $29.95), a leave-in conditioning spray that, according to David, “provides instant shine and the ultimate smooth while helping to seal the hairs end and create a perfect, lustrous finish.”

After the cut, David styled Nicole’s hair with the Instant Straight Smoothing Balm (RRP $24.50). Warming a small amount in his hands, David applied the heat-activated balm through hair before running it through the flat iron.  “This product is designed especially for frizzy, wavy or curly hair and is the instant answer to taming frizz and create perfectly straight tresses that defy the elements,” he said.

David finished Nicole’s flawless look with a light spritz of Finished Styling Spray (RRP $24.50), “for memory hold and touchable softness”, to last throughout music’s night of nights.

Re-launched in Australia in November 2012, the new David Babaii range is now available in Priceline stores, selected pharmacies and salons, and online at

Blow Dry Bar – Express & Affordable Beauty

Founded in 2008, the first Blow Dry Bar salon opened on Sydney’s Market Street. Today, it is one of the fastest growing franchises Sydney. It’s point of difference? Patrons need only pay $40 for a full hair service – complete with a wash and therapeutic head massage – all ready in just 30 minutes. It takes some people longer to decide on an outfit for a night out.

“We understand that women are time-poor these days, so we offer an express blow dry in just 30 minutes. That includes a wash and massage!” says Blow Dry Bar’s founder, Nathan Cuneen.

The first thing you notice when you step into the salon, is the attentive service.

“Would you like a champagne?” I am asked, only moments after stepping into the salon. It’s a sunny December afternoon – a night out with girlfriends is on the horizon – so my reply is, naturally, “yes please.”

More than just a blow dry salon (although, this is undoubtedly, their signature service), Blow Dry Bar is a full-service hair salon, offering style cuts, colours, and even an expert extension service.

“$40 for a blow dry (including the wash and massage) is a steal these days – and some would say the best and cheapest pick me up,” says Cuneen.

Another unique service offered by the salon, are beauty parties; for only $60 per head, your whole group of girlfriends can partake in a salon party, and prepare for a girls night out all together – complete with champagne and a full pampering experience. It means the partying can start a little earlier –not to mention, you will be primped and looking fabulous once you actually hit the town. Because, as Cuneen reminds me: “As some say, good hair, happy women!”

Armed with one of the best blow dries my locks have ever experienced, I can attest to that.

Blow Dry Bar now have 23 salons open in Australia. For more information, visit their website.
