Harry and Meghan will step down from duties on 31 March

Harry and Meghan have announced they will step down from their official duties as royals from 31 March.

A spokesperson for the couple said they will no longer carry out their duties, but arrangements will be reviewed after 12 months.

This comes just a day after the Queen reportedly banned the couple from using the “Sussex royal” branding.

The announcement also revealed their upcoming plans, stating that they will divide their time between the UK and North America.

In February and March, the couple will attend six events in the UK, including the Endeavour Funds awards, the Mountbatten Festival of Music at Royal Albert Hall, and the Commonwealth Day Service.

Harry will return for solo engagements, attending the London Marathon in April and the Invictus Games in the Netherlands in May.

While the couple will reportedly no longer be using “Sussex royal”, they will formally retain their HRH titles but not use them. The announcement also confirms Harry remains sixth in line to the throne

Is it expected the couple will announce plans with their new non-profit organisation later this year, though the spokesperson has revealed they will support causes such as Commonwealth, community, youth empowerment and mental health.
