A whole bunch of Oprah’s personal belongings are being auctioned

Oprah is auctioning a whole bunch of her personal items and you could buy them

Oprah is known for her generosity (you get a car! And you get a car!) and also for basically being the most fabulous person on the planet. Whatever she’s selling, we’ll buy – and tell all of our friends about it. So the news that there is going to be auction of some of Oprah’s beautiful things from her Chicago apartment (items that have been in the same air as Oprah, items that she might have TOUCHED) is incredibly exciting.

The auction is being held on April 25 by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago, and Oprah, being the benevolent queen that she is, will be donating the proceeds to The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation Academy for Girls – South Africa. The foundation allows for girls to continue their education at universities in South Africa and at prestige universities around the United States of America.

The auction will have more than 500 lots, and includes paintings, memorabilia, porcelain and crystal from Oprah’s Chicago apartment.

Leslie Hindman is also a fan of Oprah’s taste and general fabulousness. She said in a statement,

“On a more personal level, I have long revered Ms. Winfrey as a collector.  I once met with Ms. Winfrey in 2003, and we discussed my perspectives and advice regarding collecting.  It was immediately evident that she had extensive market knowledge and had made it a priority to form relationships with dealers, collectors and industry contacts to make informed decisions regarding acquisitions.”
