If the handful of velvet that made an appearance on last season’s runway got you excited about your wardrobe: you’re in for a treat. It turns out SS17 was just a prelude; for AW18 a slew of designers made velvet their texture of choice. Off the runway: Dior AW 2018

Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri may have eschewed the varied colour palette paraded down the Haute Couture runway back in January, but the almost monochromatic colour palette she chose for her AW 2018 collection wasn’t any less impressive. The catwalk came alive with a sea of blue: inky shades of navy, subtle hints of powdery blue and a good dose of denim dominated Chiuri’s first AW collection for the French house. And while the colour palette was understated, in true Dior style, the detailing was not.
