Believable Beauty

While you’re probably not going to catch us attempting to emulate the paint-smeared faces that were paraded down the runways of Gareth Pugh and Vivienne Westwood, there’s good news where beauty trends are concerned: this season has something for everyone.

Backstage at the fall 2015 to 2016 shows, M.A.C make-up artists embraced individualism. As  M.A.C senior artist Kiekie Stanners, who worked on shows in both London and Milan, explains: “Rather than taking one uniform look and recreating it on every model, we focused on working with the individual to bring their own unique beauty to life.”

Explore the four key trends – Red 70s, Strength of Beauty, Love Worn and The Beautiful and Damned – in our gallery below.

It’s all in the hands

Clean nails are a staple to grooming, but not many people know how to give themselves a manicure. With visits to the salon costing a minimum of $30 per clean – not including a colour or pedicure – getting a fresh pair of nails proves to be costly.

The advantage to DIY nails, apart from saving hundreds of dollars a year, is the satisfaction of cleaning your own hands and feet, and a job well done. The process can be therapeutic, and your weekly self-manicure session is an opportunity to spend time with yourself.

All the worries of hygiene and health dangers from gel manicures are out the window. Not to mention, you avoid awkward encounters with your manicurist.

Give yourself salon quality nails at home with these essential tools.
