When the cast of hit Netflix series Stranger Things – which happens to return for a second season this month – were spotted hanging out with Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton’s headquarters last year, it became obvious the house’s creative director is an avid fan. Ghesquière’s fascination with the sci-fi show came to life once again, this time on the catwalk in Paris as part of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer collection as model Sora Choi donned at Stranger Things tee.
The nod to science fiction didn’t end there however, with Ghesquière sending a handful classic pieces with a futuristic looks down the runway – which was staged inside the medieval wing of the Louvre. But it was Ghesquière’s new take on athleisure wear that really dominated the show as the creative director paired chunky basketball sneakers and slinky sports with ornate brocade detailing in regal silhouettes.
