Louis Vuitton sends Stranger Things down the runway

When the cast of hit Netflix series Stranger Things – which happens to return for a second season this month – were spotted hanging out with Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton’s headquarters last year, it became obvious the house’s creative director is an avid fan. Ghesquière’s fascination with the sci-fi show came to life once again, this time on the catwalk in Paris as part of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer collection as model Sora Choi donned at Stranger Things tee.

The nod to science fiction didn’t end there however, with Ghesquière sending a handful classic pieces with a futuristic looks down the runway – which was staged inside the medieval wing of the Louvre. But it was Ghesquière’s new take on athleisure wear that really dominated the show as the creative director paired chunky basketball sneakers and slinky sports with ornate brocade detailing in regal silhouettes.

Take a look at some of our favourite pieces from the collection below.

Chanel’s magical Spring/Summer ’18 show

A Chanel runway show is never anything short of spectacular and this time around it was not one but six cascading waterfalls formed the backdrop for the iconic maison’s Spring/Summer 2018 show.

Never one to disappoint, Karl Lagerfeld transported guests to the tranquil Gorges du Verdon in Provence by transforming the Grand Palais – which has recently been home to a replica Eiffel Tower and space rocket for prior Chanel shows – into a verdant wonderland. Models walked above water as the ten-metre high waterfalls flowed under a boardwalk which wrapped around over 2,000 seats for guests.

As for the collection, fitting perspex earrings shaped in to giant raindrops and high fashion raincoats made an appearance, but a fashion-forward ode to the house’s founder, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was clearly present. Structured silhouettes, tweed ensembles and a black and white colour palette appeared on the runway.
