With summer rapidly approaching, it’s time to start wearing a daily moisturiser that contains SPF to protect your skin. Top this off with sunscreen during the day to keep your skin hydrated and prevent the consequences of sun damage – wrinkles, lack of firmness and pigmentation, to name a few.
We’ve rounded up 6 of our favourite SPF moisturisers that are all oxybenzone free – meaning they’re safer for our oceans, too. Oxybenzone is a member of the phenol family and one of the most widely-used UVA filters.
Studies have found that this chemical can create a harmful virus in algae when absorbed into the ocean. It has also been proven to damage the DNA in coral and deform young coral formations. Look for moisturisers that use titanium oxide or zinc oxide instead – chemicals which are less harmful to the ocean.
