Last month Lady Gaga’s iconic Valentino dress that she wore to the 2019 Golden Globe awards created a bit of a stir after it was put up for auction after reportedly being left behind in her hotel room – you can read more about the saga here

At the last minute, the gown was removed from auction just moments before bidding was set to close online at Nate D. Sanders Auction house.

According to reports, the dress was withdrawn from the auction and has been returned to the Valentino archives. At the time of the auction, the fashion house refused to comment on the authenticity of the dress and Lady Gaga also remained silent on the matter.

The authenticity of the dress came under scrutiny as a veteran Beverly Hilton housekeeper claimed that the gown was left in Gaga’s room after the event. On finding the gown the housekeeper turned it into the hotel’s lost and found where it went unclaimed for a number of months. The gown was then handed back to the housekeeper as no one came forward to claim it.

Before being pulled from auction, the top bid had reached US$19,000 – just a fraction of what a Valentino Haute Couture gown would normally set some back with a usual price tag starting at $150,000.
