In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lawrence admitted she knows exactly what she would say if she ever met President Donald Trump. “I’ve got a pretty good speech. And it ends with a martini to the face,” she laughed.
When asked whether she would actually follow through, the 27-year-old actress said: “Oh, I would, definitely. Oh, my God, I’ve been waiting for this moment.”
Prompted by Oprah to reveal the content of the speech, Lawrence again showed her confronting, honest nature. “I’ll give you a hint – it’s not nice. You wouldn’t want me to say it to you.”
The star, who was raised as a Republican, added that she had words for members of Trumps’ administration, too. “I have something to say for all of them. I watch different characters on the news, and I’m like, ‘You just wait’.”
Lawrence stopped supporting the Republican party after feeling they did not do enough for gender equality. She is a member of the non-profit organisation Represent.Us, which focuses on anti-corruption laws, and is passionate about educating students on issues of bribery and co-ercement.
“I want to travel around to the areas I’m from so that people realise corruption is a completely nonpartisan issue,” she said. “I would love to help pass a bundle of laws. We’d be able to pass state-by-state legislation to help [stop] corruption in our government.”
She is also an advocate for celebrity privacy. In a MiNDFOOD interview earlier this year, Lawrence said she was used to the unwanted attention by the media now. “I have come to a different place now than where I was a couple of years ago… If I don’t have security, if I am by myself and feel that my personal space is being violated, then I’ll defend myself.”
To Oprah, she said she “would love to pass laws that help celebrity parents be able to take their kids to places without having to worry about paparazzi.”
