Bright and sunny days are on their way! Embrace the mood of the upbeat weather with a spritz of one of the latest perfumes.
Capturing light and bright floral elements in a fragrance is no new feat but we’re enamoured with the latest bunch regardless.
What’s also new about some of the perfumes dropping this season is a ‘solar’ element. In perfumery that means creating and including fragrance notes the inspired by the sun, the warmth and the light that it brings. Of course, these can’t be captured as flowers are and distilled into scent, so they are created with complex fragrance chemistry, but the effect they deliver is seriously mood boosting.
Earlier this season, a host of perfumers with fresh, green notes landed in time for the northern summer and we highly recommend checking those out too, but these new options have a more pretty, floral or sunny mood.
These are some of the latest spring-perfect releases to look out for, either on counters now or landing very soon.
Dior L’Or De J’adore EDP
Dior’s new Perfume Creative Director Francis Kurkdjian has quickly got to work on the house’s fragrance icons, delivering a luminous and luxe new iteration of the golden bottled J’Adore. The new L’Or De J’adore (L’Or meaning gold in French), is a full and voluptuous bouquet that highlights orange blossom, jasmine and rose absolutes rounded out with a radiant solar element. Available September 3.
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau Fraiche EDT
A new interpretation of Elizabeth Arden’s tranquil White Tea scent, this time with a bit of sparkle on top thanks to a touch of citrus and florals, making it just the right update for the spring and summer season. Blood orange, lily of the valley, tonka bean and musk mingle in Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau Fraiche. The new fragrance uses vegan, mindfully-sourced ingredients and calls on VivaScentz technology to ensure the composition encourages a sense of wellbeing in its wearer.
Vyrao Sun Rae EDP
Described as bottled sunshine, modern fragrance house Vryao delivered good vibes in a spritz, with a zingy opening of turmeric, lemon, bergamot and ginger. This is layered on pepper and cardamom with a warm and sensual base of Amber, sandalwood and vetiver. Available August 29
Floral Street Sweet Almond Blossom EDP
In its second collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, modern British fragrance brand Floral Street has taken inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpiece Almond Blossom. Fittingly, like the painting which appears on the bottle, the fruity-floral scent of Sweet Almond Blossom Eau De Parfum perfectly captures the optimism and beauty of spring. Crisp and bright citrus and blossom notes gently evolve into a touch of vanilla sweetness. Available August 29.
Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pivoine
The light freshness of water, known as the key aspect of Issey Miyake’s iconic L’Eau d’Issey, gets spun into a fruity floral. Like those water drinks with a hint of flavour, this is a refreshing spring wear, with aquatic notes meeting peony, pear and white raspberry notes. A touch of woody base notes rounds the scent out.
Juliette Has A Gun Lust for Sun EDP
A beachy take on blossoms, Lust for Sun from Juliette Has A Gun smells like a holiday, even if you wear it while sitting at your desk daydreaming about the seaside. Jasmine, gardenia, and orange blossom meet coconut, musk and vanilla in this sunny, joyful floral scent.
