Looking festive in green, Kate Middleton stepped out with husband Prince William to celebrate St Patrick’s Day over the weekend. The royal couple joined the Irish Guards at a St Patrick’s Day Parade in Hounslow, West London.
The Duke and Duchess were greeted at the parade by the Irish Guards’ mascot, an Irish Wolfhound named Domhnall. Kate Middleton presented the dog with a shamrock, who then led the parade of 350 soldiers.
“Domhnall’s role is very monumental – he is the first guy on the parade”, the mascot’s trainer, Aidan Cathcart, told BBC. “He is the main guy on the march, it’s a pretty important day for him.”
As Colonel of the regiment, the Duke of Cambridge took the salute. After the ceremony, the Duke enjoyed a Guinness while the pregnant Duchess sipped water.
