The newly engaged actress is stepmum to Chris Martin's kids Apple and Moses, whom he shares with ex Gwyneth Paltrow.

Dakota Johnson has been in a relationship with Coldplay singer Chris Martin since 2017. While not officially confirmed, the ‘besotted’ couple are now ‘engaged’ according to reports.

Martin and his first wife, Paltrow were married for more than 10 years before famously ‘consciously uncoupling’ in 2014. “I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids,” Paltrow said in 2019. “But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”

Johnson recently opened up about her close relationship with Martin and Paltrow’s kids, “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,” she explained.

Alluding to her relationship with the former couple, and the kids, Johnson explained to Bustle: “I grew up in a family that was so big, and I just believe in the saying ‘Blood is thicker than water.’ … The connections with people you choose are more solid than the connections to the people you’re actually born to.”

She also referred to Chris, Gwyneth, Apple, and Moses as her “new family:” “Even in my adult life and my new family, most of us are artists. Even the kids, they’re extraordinarily talented people. So you just are dealing with complex people.

As for having her own children?

“I’m so open to that,” Johnson says of motherhood. “I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything that life has to offer. And especially being a woman, I’m like, ‘What a magical f—— thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.”

“If that’s meant to happen to me, I’m totally down for it,” Johnson continues, later adding, “And then I’m like, ‘We’re not here for very long, so if I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on.'”
