This annual event originates from three festive cultural events- Japanese Obon Matsuri, Malaysian Hari Merdeka, Independence Day from British rule in 1957, and the Chinese Hang Seng.
What: The Shinju Matsuri (festival of the pearl) is a real tribute to Broome’s cultural diversity, and its rich history. The exciting programme includes moon markets and the livelighter mardi gras.
