The ceremony unveiled the five winners who are developing solutions to environmental problems.
Former New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern is a trustee of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.
Ardern said “The idea that this isn’t just a notion in a lab or on paper, but this is an idea that can have a tangible effect in the real world. And the reason for that is the Prince has always had a very clear vision. The ideas exist. We just need to bring them to the world and bring them quickly. That’s what Earthshot is all about.”

The annual Earthshot Prize awards 1 million pounds each to the five winners in an effort to help them scale their climate and environmental solutions.
The five winners for Earthshot 2023 are:
- Acción Andina
- GRST
- WildAid Marine Program
- S4S Technologies
- Boomitra
Ahead of the ceremony, celebrities and politicians lent their spotlight to the 15 finalists with many calling for scalable and better solutions to tackle global climate change.
Cate Blanchett said of the awards: “So there’s so many innovative solutions. Also community based solutions, indigenous-led solutions and so you know to be here in Singapore – gateway to you know the Global South and so much is happening in this region, think it’s a very special year, and so there’s cause for optimism.”
“Earthshot coming from a seed of an idea to where we are three years later, the whole point is to provide impact and to make change.” said the Prince ahead of the ceremony in Singapore.
