Expect beauty in 2022 to embrace playful, adventurous and whimsical approaches according to the annual Pinterest Predicts trend report, just released for 2022, that lists mullet as one of its soaring hairstyles over the next 12 months.
Each year the virtual pinboard site that describes itself as a ‘visual discovery engine’, takes a stab at the themes and approaches that will be big in the following year, based on the fact that people generally use Pinterest to plan for the future. It covers fashion, beauty, food, health, pets, tech and more.
They do a great job of it too, the site says when considering last year’s prediction report for what might trend in 2021, 8 out of 10 of it’s predictions came true. Given it included the likes of ‘Skinimalism’, and ‘Indie beauty’ in it’s 2021 predictions, we’d say they’re bang on. ‘Rain-brows’ – or colourful eyebrows, we could give or take this year, but it’s not far off, if you’re judging on social media.
In terms of 2022’s beauty trends, here’s what Pinterest says is going to be influential based on usage trends, along with related search trends that it’s seeing which reinforce its prediction.
Rebel cuts – The pandemic breakup hair is real, people
Soft layers and timid trims, be gone. In 2022, hard-to-miss hair—from mullets to octopus hair to bob cut wigs—will be the most-requested styles by Gen Z.
