Metal is Major As Silver And Shine Returns To Interiors
Expect interior decor trends to evolve to include sheeny, shiny metallic elements in 2024.

That’s according to Pinterest, as signposted in its annual ‘Pinterest Predicts’ report that selects a number of key influences likely play a part in our choices in the coming 12 months.

The virtual pinboard site, that describes itself as a ‘visual discovery engine’, analyses its data to predict what will have an impact in the coming year. It bases this data on usage trends and the fact that people generally use Pinterest to plan for the future.  It covers fashion, beauty, interiors, design, food, health, pets, tech and more

One area it’s picking to have an immediate impact? The rise and rise of metal accents already being seen in interiors, with chrome, steel, and aluminum elements and gleaming finishes suddenly everywhere.

“Cool silver tones and bold chrome are resonating right now,” Pinterest states.

“Melty metallics will make their way into the mainstream in 2024 as people trade in their trusty neutrals for something a bit more hardcore. Gen Z and Millennials are driving this heavy metal aesthetic.”

The report suggests the trend will encompass a range of areas and shares skyrocketing trending search terms including Aluminium furniture +45%, Aluminium door design +70%, Silver necklaces layered +50%, Nail art metallic +295% and Metal corset +35%.

The good news is, for interiors, the trend is easy to adopt in smaller design and decor elements that can be swapped out, rather than long-lasting fixtures that are more difficult to change.

In particular, lamps, vases and mirrors are the perfect area to embrace the fluid, metallic trend.
