Kim Jones Makes his Dior Homme Debut

Kim Jones, who departed Louis Vuitton at the start of the year, made his anticipated debut as Dior Homme designer in Paris on Saturday. Here’s everything you need to know about the Spring/Summer 2019 show.

The front row was as A-list as it gets

From pop stars to fashion icons, the who’s who from almost every industry imaginary flocked to Paris for Jones’s Dior debut. Virgil Abloh, who made his debut at Louis Vuitton just days before, sat alongside Kanye West and A$AP Rocky. Karl Lagerfeld, Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss were a few the heavyweights from the fashion world that turned up to support Jones. Other notable faces included Rita Ora, Lilly Allen, Bella Hadid, Winnie Harlow and Robert Pattison.

Jones looked to the Dior archives for inspiration

There were plenty of references to Dior of bygone days throughout the collection which was shown at the Garden Republicaine in Paris. Blush hues sent down the runway honoured Monsieur Dior’s obsession with roses; Jones had fabric made to imitate detailing from one of Christian Dior’s former studios and there were even intricate feathered flowers placed under vinyl based on Dior’s personal porcelain.

A prince opened the show

Prince Nikolai of Denmark opened the Spring/Summer 2019 show in suit and sneakers ensemble.“I’m half Danish and Mr Dior always had that thing with royalty, and so I thought it would be nice to open with a prince,” Jones told The Guardian.

A Sheet Mask for Every Task

Winter and its unpredictable weather don’t always play nice where skin is concerned, and sometimes it needs extra TLC to stay hydrated and youthful. We’ve rounded up our favourite essential sheet masks to fend off the elements.

The very first sheet mask from Clarins, Super Restorative Instant Lift Serum Mask ($150 for 5), packs a punch. Powered by about 30ml of serum, this mask delivers results. Developed for mature skin, the gel-serum texture lifts and firms while restoring radiance and diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Multitasking Lancôme Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask ($150 for 5) smooths, plumps and hydrates unhappy skin. With the same amount of Bifidus extract – touted as improving skin structure and forming a protective barrier – as an entire bottle of Advanced Génifique, skin is revived and nourished in just 30 minutes.

Ensuring your skin is strong and resilient before winter is the best way to keep your complexion glowing and healthy all season. Packed with a concentrated formula of hyaluronic acid and probiotics, Elizabeth Arden Superstart Probiotic Boost Skin Renewal Biocellulose Mask ($95 for 4) transforms lacklustre skin into a radiant, smooth complexion in one treatment. Harsh conditions can leave skin dehydrated and sapped of its usual glow.

Skinvitals Glow 2-Step Active Brightening Cloth Mask Treatment ($12.99) energises skin and restores luminosity. Powerhouse ingredients, including niacinamide (vitamin B3), liquorice and safflower bud, banish unwanted dark spots and enhance radiance for a more even, youthful skin tone.

If you suffer from sensitive skin, including a sheet mask that’s been formulated to calm and soothe in your beauty routine once or twice a week will help. With calming ingredients, including chamomile, hydrating hyaluronic acid and plant serums, the gentle yet effective Garnier Hydra Bomb Super Hydrating Soothing Mask ($4.99) keeps sensitive skin comfortable and nourished.
