Kim Cattrall to return as Samantha Jones in And Just Like That… Season 2
Kim Cattrall is reportedly returning to the role of her popular Sex the City character Samantha Jones, but the appearance is said to be brief.

A new report in Variety cites unnamed sources that reveal Cattrall has already filmed a part that will appear in season two of And Just Like That, the Sex and the City spinoff series starring Sarah Jessica Parker.

A spokesperson for Max (previously known as HBO Max), creators of the show, subsequently confirmed Cattrall’s appearance in the new series to the New York Post.

While the news will excite fans that have missed empowered publicist Samantha, the appearance is apparently brief.

According to Variety, the actress will only appear in one scene in the season two finale and shot her dialogue in March without speaking to or seeing the rest of the cast.

The report shares that the scene involves Samantha, who in the show has moved to London, having a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. In the first season of “And Just Like That,” Carrie engaged with an estranged Samantha over text, and in the finale, the two made a plan to see each other in order to reconcile.

Cattrall and Parker have both spoken of tension between the two and Cattrall did not appear in the first series, despite other original key cast members Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis returning to their famous roles.

‘I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media,’ the actress, 66, told Variety in 2022.

Cattrall decided not to take part in the third film after seeing her character’s lack of progression.

‘It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough,’ Cattrall said of not returning to the show. ‘I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.’

Cattrall also previously claimed that she was never friends with her Sex and the City co-stars.

She said in 2017: “We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues and in some ways it’s a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal.”
