Bring on the Heat: Inside STYLE Summer 2024
The season of sun and celebration is finally here! To mark the occasion our new issue explores the best the season has to offer both at home and abroad, with a host of fashion, beauty, home, design, food and travel inspiration.

Mexico loosely weaves its way through the issue, with stunning locations and design influences giving a vibrant and upbeat feel to the pages that have had a subtle reorganisation.

“This issue we have shuffled things around a little with three separate sections,” explains Editor-in-Chief Michael McHugh.

“THE EDIT kicks off the issue and celebrates all things available to shop for now. The main section, SUMMER 2024, really is a celebration of all things of the season in fashion, design, accessories, beauty and culture. And CONCIERGE, at the back of the magazine, has had a complete makeover and now includes new restaurants, road trips, recommendations of what to wear, where to travel, stay and dine during summer.”

THE EDIT

We round up the best in seasonal shopping, from Louis Vuitton’s sleek Flight Mode collection  to shiny new collectibles from Van Cleef & Arpels, delightful stackable dishes from Bianca Lorenne, sophisticated pet accessories and a round-up of daring on-trend sunglasses.

SUMMER 2024

Anya Taylor-Joy graces the cover of this season’s fashion edition. Having stared on screens big and small, making genre- and generation-defining drama along the way. Yet just when it seems actress, model and fashion forerunner Taylor-Joy has reached the top, the 27-year-old is set to hit an even greater sphere of fame

We take a trip to homes that make the most of their stunning sunbaked environments, from a stone farmhouse on Menorca, one of the four Balearic island situated in the Mediterranean Sea, to brutalist concrete residences in Mexico. New options in outdoor furniture and interior fabrics also feature, with lots of burnt oranges, reds and ochre all inspired by New Mexico, but perfect for a New Zealand home.

Our captivating shoot sees Dior’s Cruise 2024 collection, inspired by the Mexico’s indigenous craftsmanship, rich cultural heritage and iconoclast artist Frida Kahlo, represented in dramatic detail. There’s plenty of further shopping motivation from a new Kowtow store, to swimsuits, outfits and sunglasses ready to fill your wardrobe.

An intense and restrictive beauty routine gets thrown out the winter in summer and we’re here for it. Instead, take your cues from the suggestions in our ‘Beach Season’ story for updating your simple SPF and bronzer requirements, paired with the latest white outfits that offer relaxed style and a touch of international inspiration. Keeping hair in great shape over summer does require a bit of extra effort however, so we gather some expert advice to help.

A riot of colour and sparkle further cements the buoyant mood thanks to Van Cleef & Arpels latest collection of 70 necklaces, rings and more, plus take a tour of Louis Vuitton and Dior’s seasonal accessory must-haves.

We revisit the historic occasion of Anna Pavlova’s ballet tour of New Zealand in 1925, and find out what’s in store for New Zealand Opera’s 2024 season.

CONCIERGE

Knock back a margarita or two (there’s a recipe on page 181) and mentally plan your itinerary with our Concierge section, whether it’s via the travel guide to Merida, Mexico or the rest of the must-visit spots to eat, stay and shop locally.

STYLE is available in all good book stores and supermarkets from December 4, and online at MiNDFOOD.com
