Google searches for ‘Corona beer virus’ on the rise amid illness outbreak
The outbreak of a deadly new coronavirus appears to have led some people to believe beer is linked to the illness.

Google searches for “beer virus” and “Corona beer virus” are on the rise, according to data from the search engine.

The searches for the terms have increased significantly since January 18.

According to the data, Cambodia and Portugal top the list of places which have seen surges in the search term “Corona beer virus”.

Meanwhile, Ireland and Israel are the countries that are searching for “beer virus” most frequently.

Rest assured, there’s no connection between the Mexican brand of beer and the outbreak.

A coronavirus gets its name from the crown-like spikes on its surface, with ‘corona’ being Latin for crown. In Spanish, ‘corona’ means crowns – and the beer has a crown for its logo.
