Discover the Holy Land at Christmas

Discover the Holy Land at Christmas

Discover the Holy Land at Christmas

Spend the festive season of a lifetime in the Holy Land of Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and gain a new perspective on the season.

Explore a region alive with history during a time of great celebration, a time when streets are bright with Christmas lights, parades, the wafting of local foods and impromptu concerts – a truly awe-inspiring destination at a time of year that is just magical.

With its lively, cosmopolitan cafe culture, relaxed Mediterranean beaches and rich in Abrahamic history, Tel Aviv is the perfect place to begin this celebratory 8-day journey that will take you through the Holy Cities of Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Masada.

Join pilgrims in Nazareth, where you spend the evening in the city decorated handsomely for the season, then journey on to Bethlehem as you visit the Church of the Annunciation and take part in the annual Christmas Day procession. Following a hearty Christmas dinner, re-join the crowd of the faithful for a poignant Midnight Mass, which can be viewed on giant screens in Manger Square. There is also an opportunity to book tickets in advance via Peregrine for the chance to attend Mass inside the Church of Nativity itself. The atmosphere of reverence and joy will stay with you forever.

On Christmas Eve, sample a festive menu with a twist and some of the world’s greatest falafel as you wonder the food markets in the streets of Bethlehem before moving on to Jerusalem for Christmas and Boxing Day where you will get to explore the Old Town, also known as the Seven Widows Quarter, and go on a guided tour of the “way of sorrows”, which follows the biblical path of Jesus to the crucifixion.

It’s then on to Masada where you can take a cable car to discover the spectacular cliff-top fortress built by King Herod around 35BC. This World Heritage site is of great importance in the Jewish faith, a symbol of the exile of the Jewish people from the Holy Land. This time of year is also perfect for a dip in the salty waters of the Dead Sea – which are shrinking due to a combination of evaporation and other factors – so don’t miss the opportunity to float in this healing saline lake.

Throughout your journey through this incredible region, you will travel by private transport and stay in comfortable hotels (5 nights) and a guesthouse (2 night), inclusive of 7 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners.

From AUD $4340.00* and NZD $4645.00* per person, twin share, be sure to book your seat early for travel from December 21, 2019 and 2020.

*Prices are subject to change and based on twin share, low season tour departures as quoted on 18 December 2018.
