60 years after the brand’s three founders established the brand with three scented candles: Tea, Hawthorn and Cinnamon, the new range, Les Mondes de Diptyque, introduces five brand new fragrances to mark the significant anniversary.
The scents are housed in fine coloured glass and feature a new refillable format that is designed to minimise waste.
Les Mondes de Diptyque’s fragrances were created to transport you to another time and place. Each unique scent interprets a number of little-known but real, remarkable places, each featuring its own captivating blend of nature and culture.
La Forêt Rêve (“Forest Dreams”) recalls as Pozas, an ancient orchid garden in heart of the Mexican jungle transformed into an indulgent sanctuary for vegetation and art. Notes include ylang-ylang essence, vanilla absolute and jasmine absolute.
Temple des Mousses (“Moss Temple”) seeks to grant access to the magic of a Japanese zen garden, transported deep into an unspoilt natural environment. Notes include moss absolute, cedar essence and matcha accord.
La Vallée du Temps (“Valley of Time”) is an escape to China where you’ll discover a thousand-year-old craft workshop set amid verdant tea plantations. Notes include white tea accord, maté absolute and jasmine absolute.
Terres Blondes (“Golden Lands”) is about exploring the great American west – roaming its fertile primordial lands, tasting the breezes of warm air. Notes include wheat bran absolute, red cedar essence and burnt earth.
Nymphées Merveilles (“Nymphaeum of Wonders”) takes you to the enchanted gardens of the Renaissance palaces, losing yourself in the splendors of 16th century Italy. Notes include orange blossom, jasmine and iris.
When the engraved glass lid of each vessel is lifted, a block of scented wax is revealed. The lid doubles as a base, and the candle is a blend of several waxes chosen to express the olfactory composition, an approach unique to Diptyque.
Though fans of the brand have long-reused the classic candle glass with the iconic oval-shaped black and white stickers to house other objects, for this new range scented wax blocks are available to purchase separately to re-fill the glass vessel once the original is burnt down.
When around 5mm of wax remains at the bottom or the metal wick support in the original candle, the glass is placed in warm water to remove the remaining wax, which pops out once softened. Then, a new wax block can be placed inside and lit as usual.
