Dior goes for serene, luminous beauty look for Haute Couture
Couture Fashion Week collections are not often punctuated by big beauty statements, with top fashion houses preferring to let the craft and workmanship of each meticulously-made garment take the spotlight.

Such was the case at Dior as the French house presented the Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 23-24 collection by designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, inspired by classical Rome.

Referencing Greco-Roman myths and goddesses, elegant, elongated shapes were in abundance in Dior’s range, created with simple and serene neutral sand, ecru and gold tones interspersed with a small number of black outfits.

Such a minimalist ‘quiet luxury’ vibe calls for beauty simplicity and Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, rose to the occasion, creating a flawless, luminous makeup look.

“I focused on a radiant and luminous dewy complexion,” says Philips. “I also wanted to delicately highlight the eyes by subtly brightening them with a light and transparent golden eyeshadow.”

Skin was prepped and hydrated with Dior Prestige skincare before Philips went in with a little Dior Forever Glow Veil Primer. The skin’s lush base was completed with Dior Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation and Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer was used just where needed for extra coverage.

“In order to add intensity to the eyes while keeping the look natural, I emphasised and lengthened the eyebrows with Diorshow Brow Styler and Diorshow On Set Brow. Then I also brightened the upper eyelids with the transparent gold shade from the Diorshow 5 Couleurs 539 Grand Bal Palette.”

“Lastly I opened up the eyes by applying an imperceptible touch of mascara at the root of lashes using Diorshow Iconic Overcurl in Black.”

Lips were given a natural finish with a touch of clear Rouge Dior Satinbalm.

Hair was centre-parted, and braided and tied back in a teardrop shape at the back.
