Deadly Ponies and footwear? It’s not traditionally a combination you think of, with the Auckland-based brand traditionally synonymous with stylish, carry-all handbags.
In previous seasons the leather experts have dabbled in refined, well-made leather boots but for summer 23/24 the brand is seriously branching out.
A new shoe line offers a range of summer sandals, heels and boots in simple neutral leathers as well as pops of bold colour. The styles are artisanally crafted using ethically sourced leather, something the brand, established in 2005 has become known for.
A serious standout? That summer must-have, the slide, in a folded leather version called the ‘Gansu’ that comes in a clear, bright sky blue or simple cream or chestnut. A style emblazoned with the brand’s logo in grass green canvas with a leather footbed, offers a simple, casual version of the style.
The range also includes one of the season’s hottest trends, the mary-jane ballet flat, as well as heeled mules with clean, refined lines and a platform thong/jandal style for lovers of quiet luxury.
The collection is an offshoot of the brand’s summer range of bags and accessories that includes new silhouettes include Mr Ferris Midi, a medium shoulder bag with a zip closure, a Bellboy Midi, a mini portrait-style tote, and Mr Bellboy Mini, a compact crossbody bag. Mr Futon Mini brings a playfully, puffy shape to the range of beloved classic styles.
To mark the arrival of the footwear range, the brand has opened a pop-up boutique on Auckland’s Ponsonby Road, where customers can try the styles and colour variations and shop selected accessories.
