Cult US burger chain opens in Melbourne

Burger fans, get ready! Tomorrow (October 26), fast food favourite Carl’s Jr. lands in Melbourne for the very first time.

Famous for its chargrilled burgers and hand-scooped ice-cream milkshakes, global chain Carl’s Jr will set up shop within Knox Westfield’s Ozone dining precinct, beside Village Cinemas.

Offering the quintessential taste of America in every bite – without the cost of airfares – the new local Carl’s Jr. will serve up the fresh-to-order handmade classic menu items that have won the chain a firm cult following overseas.

This includes the aptly-named Thickburger, which is Carl’s Jr. signature offering. Boasting a hefty beef patty and all the trimmings, the Thickburger can come with extras like Portobello mushrooms, grilled pineapple or guacamole and bacon. Meanwhile, the Big Carl comes with two chargrilled beef patties, and the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger is piled with beef patties, melted American cheese, bacon, crispy onion rings and tangy BBQ sauce – definitely not for the faint of heart.

Chicken fans will be pleased to see seven different menu options available, from burgers to crispy breaded tenders, plus there are also sides, desserts and even salads to choose from.

Can’t wait to sink your teeth into one of their juicy stacked burgers? Well, hold on a minute, because the news gets even better. To celebrate the highly anticipated restaurant opening, Carl’s Jr. is offering free food for a year to the first 50 customers that set foot in the new restaurant.

Queues are predicted out the door – and when Carl’s Jr. opened its first Australian store in Bateau Bay, one man lined up for an impressive 36 hours for his first taste – so we recommend heading in early!

Ned Lyerly, CKE International President, says “We have no doubt that with the experience and commitment of the CJ’s Victoria team, Carl’s Jr. will soon become the ultimate destination for Victorian consumers seeking a premium quality burger experience both in metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victorian areas.”
