Christian Louboutin arrives in New Zealand with stunning red-accented boutique

Christian Louboutin Queen Street Auckland
Shopping for shoes for a special occasion, or perhaps the perfect heel for the fashion-forward modern bride? You're in luck.

Christian Louboutin, famed for it’s eye-popping pointed stilletos with patent red soles, has arrived in New Zealand.

While Kiwis have long had to pop over the ditch to one of the French luxury brand’s Australian stores to shop, the opening of a new boutique in Auckland has changed that.

The 90sm boutique on lower Queen Street in Auckland’s CBD is a homage to Christian Louboutin’s actual Parisian apartment. The cosy yet luxurious space, fittingly lined with red carpet and red velvet accents is the perfect intimate atmosphere to showcase the brand’s range for both men and women.

There are two distinct areas inspired by a daytime lounge and an evening living room, the latter perfect to perch on the plush red sofa while slipping on a selection of shoes, any purchase decision helped along by the tilted mirrors that reveal all angles.

Expect to find those famous styles, like the classic Kate pump, named after Kate Moss, that seems to suit every outfit, or the playful Me Dolly mules, a favourite of Margot Robbie.

Lesser-known but equally desirable are the dainty ballet flats and slides, and the jazzy iridescent pink mary-jane pumps.

For brides, the dazzling Follies Strass style in sheer mesh with crystal accents makes a glamourous statement.

Swifties will know Christian Louboutin has outfitted Taylor Swift with each of her sparkling shoes and boots for the Eras Tour, and while those items can’t be bought, there’s enough shimmer and colour to leave magpies well satisfied.

While the respected French designer’s obvious passion began with shoes, founding the brand in 1991, Louboutin has since extended into other lifestyle areas, and it’s worth exploring the collection of supple leather handbags, from sling-on cross body styles to edgy studded clutches and card-holders.

Every style, including the men’s collection and accessories comes complete with a red sole, or red accent somewhere on the item. The famous signature is thanks to the founder’s suprising move back in 1993. After seeing his assistant painting her nails, the designer had a brainwave and took red nail polish to paint the sole instead, delivering a flash of red only visible when a foot moves or is lifted. The idea cemented a signature that is now recognised worldwide.

The Christian Louboutin Boutique is at Shop 3- 4, Queens Arcade, 34-40 Queen Street, Auckland.
