US farmers celebrate 60 years of James Bond with world’s largest corn maze

James Bond has been celebrated in an unusual corn-based way.

Chicago farmers have created the world’s largest corn maze to celebrate the 60th anniversary of James Bond.

The intricate maze features over 16 kilometres (10 miles) of trails and sits on 11 hectares (28 acres) in Spring Grove, Illinois.

The maze displays the images of almost all James Bond actors, including Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig – as well as other details from the movies, including the gun barrel, an Aston Martin DB5 car, and the Casino de Monte-Carlo.

The maze was created by using high-tech corn planter tractors outfitted with GPS and special shutoffs.

As the tractor travels across the field, corn seed is dropped to plant the maze’s pattern, down to the tiny details of their chosen design.

“It’s a different theme every year,” said George Richardson, co-owner of Richardson Adventure Farm. “We’re highlighting 60 years of James Bond this year, a very fun theme for us.”

The James Bond corn maze is open to the public from September 10 until October 30, 2022.
