Sustainable fashion: Celebrities who have rocked upcycled looks
Key Executive of SCRgroup, Australia’s largest and most innovative clothing recycling company, Alexis Todorovski has put together her favourite celebrity outfits that have been upcycled or made from recycled materials.

At the 2022 Oscars, Megan Thee Stallion wore Gaurav Gupta’s Fantasy Biomorphic Gown which was inspired by a mystical sea creature and made entirely from upcycled ocean plastics.

Gisele Bundchen’s 2018 Met Gala custom Versace gown was 100% sustainable throughout its supply chain; from the organic silk and cotton mix to the crystals created out of recycled glass bottles from Brazil.

Emma Watson’s 2016 Met Gala entire outfit was produced with sustainability in mind. The custom Calvin Klein black-and-white corset, train and matching trousers were created with yarns crafted from recycled plastic bottles in partnership with Eco-Age, the inner bustier was made from organic cotton, and the zips were made from recycled metals.

Natalia Bryant wore a floral sequin gown at the 2021 Met Gala created by emerging fashion designer Conner Ives. The dress was sustainably made from recycled PET plastic and was chosen by Vogue editor in chief, Anna Wintour.
