Everything We Know: King Charles’ Cancer Diagnosis
Britain's King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday.

It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace says the King “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible”

Charles became king in September 2022 following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth. The Palace confirmed the King looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

Charles spent three nights in hospital last month where he underwent a corrective procedure for a benign enlarged prostate. The palace said a separate issue of concern had been spotted during the hospital visit. No further details have been shared beyond saying the king had a “form of cancer.”

No further details are being shared on the stage of cancer or a prognosis.

Prince William thanks public for messages about King Charles

Prince William thanked the British public for their kind messages about his wife Kate following her recent surgery and about his father King Charles after he was diagnosed with cancer as he returned to official duties on Wednesday.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you … for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.” said William, 41, the Prince of Wales.

“It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather ‘medical’ focus. So I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all,” he told a gala dinner for London’s Air Ambulance Charity where guests included Hollywood actor Tom Cruise.

The event was the heir to the throne’s second official public appearance on Wednesday on his return to work having postponed all engagements to look after his three children after Kate’s abdominal surgery.
