Angelina Jolie made a jaw-dropping appearance at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London for a royal ceremony the Queen couldn’t attend due to illness.
Even the Queen needs to take sick days sometimes. Her Majesty canceled her appearance at a royal event this morning because she “is feeling under the weather,” according to a statement from Buckingham Palace, as reported by E! News.
Queen Elizabeth was originally scheduled to appear at a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on Thursday that honored the 200th anniversary of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, the royal family tweeted. Instead, her cousin, the Duke of Kent, took her place with Hollywood royalty Angelina Jolie at her side. The actress was made an honorary dame in the order by the Queen in 2014.
The Maleficent star, 43, looked effortlessly chic in an ivory cowl-neck gown, as she became the star attraction of the service, after the Queen was forced to bow out due to reportedly contracting a summer cold.
The brunette beauty proudly sported the sash badge of the order – a dazzling brooch coming in a silver-gilt and enamel – while she slipped on silk gloves to perfect her elegant ensemble for the dazzling bash, the Mirror reports.
The Queen is expected to continue her engagements in Scotland next week, according to the Daily Mail.
