Since 1914, State Banquets in London have traditionally been held in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace. This room, the largest of the State Rooms, was completed in 1855, during the reign of Queen Victoria.
The Prince and Princess of Wales met South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee this morning at their hotel. They then travelled with Mr Yoon and Mrs Kim to a Horse Guards Parade ceremonial welcome, where the King and Queen were waiting.
The event marks the first incoming state visit since the King’s coronation and the second of his reign. In a regal display of diplomatic ties, King Charles and Queen Camilla will host a State Banquet this evening at Buckingham Palace

Dazzling in the colour of the moment, the Princess of Wales wore a striking caped red coat by Catherine Walker, a favourite designer of the royal. She paired the dress coat with a matching hat by Jane Taylor. She also sported a pair of Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond oval drop earrings, complementing the look with a pair of Gianvito Rossi red shoes.
