New Zealand fashion label Harman Grubiša has won the Australasian Woolmark Prize for 2017. Nominated by NZFW’s Dame Pieter Stewart, they are the first local brand to win a category of the esteemed International Woolmark Prized. They took out the award after presenting judges with one merino wool design and a six-piece womenswear capsule collection. As well as receiving a $75,000 financial contribution towards their next collection, Harman Grubiša is invited to compete in the international finals, where the winner will receive prize money of NZ$215,000.
The brainchild of New Zealand designers Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša, Harman Grubiša focuses on quality and longevity, aiming to create stylish womenswear that can be worn in numerous occasions. The designers will spend the next six months developing a second capsule collection that highlights both the diversity of merino wool and the uniqueness of their brand.
