The images will be part of the Coming Home exhibition when the gallery re-opens in 2023.

The show is described by Kensington Palace as “a nationwide initiative which sees portraits of well-known individuals being sent to locations which they are closely associated with.”

In the meantime, the new photos will be displayed in three places that hold special meaning to the Duchess: Berkshire, St. Andrews and Anglesey.

Kate grew up in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and often returns to spend time with her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who still live there.

St. Andrews is an important spot for both Kate and Prince William as they met as freshmen at the University of St. Andrews in 2002.

And Anglesey is where the couple lived after their royal wedding in 2011 and their first home as a family.

The three images released were all captured by photographer Paolo Rovers at Kew Gardens in November 2021.

In the only coloured portrait released, the Duchess wears a beautiful one-shouldered red gown with statement earrings.

The other two images were released in black and white.
