But giving them a quick rinse with water often isn’t enough. A simple homemade vege wash solution is great for cleaning off pesticides and bacteria.
Vinegar is the key ingredient in this recipe. And while it is not a disinfectant, its acidity makes it a great household cleaning option.

Ingredients
1/2 cup white vinegar
2 cups water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 spray bottle
Directions
- Mix vinegar and water in a clean spray bottle.
- Add the lemon juice.
- Shake well.
- Spray onto produce and let it sit for a few minutes (a colander or large bowl is best).
- Rinse off the produce with water and leave to dry.
