Eighth person dies from coronavirus in Australia
An eighth person has died from COVID-19 in Australia, according to NSW Health.

A woman in her 70s has died in hospital. She was a passenger of the Ruby Princess cruise ship which docked in Sydney last week.

She was among the first group of people infected on the ship. NSW Health has said no cases of COVID-19 were found by doctors on board the ship before it docked.

“Five people who had displayed influenza-like illness were tested in Wellington, New Zealand on March 14, and all were negative for COVID-19,” said a spokesperson in a statement.

NSW Health says 133 people on board the ship have now tested positive for COVID-19, with 107 of those in NSW and 26 interstate.

The woman who has died was one of three initial passengers who tested positive after nearly 2700 were allowed to disembark the ship.
