From the same initiative that brought you #bookface comes ‘Travel by Book’ an amazing way that the city of Romania is encouraging more people to read on public transport.
Victor Miron spent more than a year trying to convince his local mayor, Emil Boc, not to charge passengers who read books.
The mayor posted the proposal to his Facebook page and was forced to take action after the idea received a flood of praise.
In June, Miron’s vision came to fruition when for three days the mayor made it free for people to travel on public transport, as long as they were reading a book.
“I believe that it’s better to promote reading by gratifying those who read, instead of criticising the ones who don’t”
