The best 5 hikes in and around Sydney

From epic multi-day hikes, to easy, short strolls, we round up our favourite hikes around Sydney:

Bondi to Manly Walk, 80km

The newly opened Bondi to Manly walk brings together Sydney’s best coastal tracks in an epic 80km journey. Ambitious hikers can attempt it in one go, or if you’re looking for something easier, you can choose the length and locations you like best. Soak up spectacular views from the South Head harbour, snap a photo at the famous Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, or meander through beautiful bush tracks at Bradley’s Head.

How long? 5 to 7 days (full walk)

Royal National Park Coast Track, 26km

An hour outside of the CBD sits one of Sydney’s most breathtaking hikes. The 26km track in the Royal National Park can be tackled in 1-2 days. Boasting a diverse mix of terrain, from hidden beaches to rugged clifftops to coastal jungles, this walk has it all. Cool off at a hidden waterfall or spot humpback whales between the months of May and October.

How long? 1-2 days

Hermitage Foreshore Walk, 1.8km

The Hermitage Foreshore Walk is perfect as a short, pre or post-brunch jaunt. The easy 1.8km track delivers stunning views of the Sydney Harbour, passing by the historic Strickland House mansion. The city track takes you through several sandy bays so be sure to bring your swimsuit.

How long? 30 minutes

Bouddi Coastal Walk, 8km

Spot native birdlife, cool off under lush rainforest and gaze out from sweeping clifftops on the Bouddi Coastal Walk. This gentle 8km track is a great option for those who still want to experience incredible views without breaking a big sweat. Take a break amongst stunning wildflowers for an idyllic picnic lunch.

How long? 3 ½ to 4 ½  hours

Lake Parramatta circuit, 4.2km

The Lake Parramatta circuit is a great way to experience native bush and wildlife, without going too far from the city. On this east to moderate walk, you’ll loop around the peaceful man-made lake, surrounded by beautiful native trees. Mix up your walk by hiring a kayak or pedal boat to explore the lake further.

How long? 2 hours
