Seeing America’s oldest park

Gill Canning, Chief Sub-Editor

‘I’ve always hankered to go to Massachussets. Boston is top of my list as I think its 400-year history would mean there’d be plenty of architectural gems to explore and admire, as well as America’s oldest park – Boston Common. I’d also make the short trip up to visit Salem, where the infamous witch trials of 1692 took place. And ever since reading the novels of Elin Hilderbrand, I’ve been keen to take the ferry from Hyannis over to the island of Nantucket. The vibe there seems really cool and the colonial-era houses pique my interest. It seems like a beautiful getaway spot.’

Local and beyond

Michael McHugh, Editor in Chief

‘NEW ZEALAND
I love the drive through the Nevis and a swim and a picnic under the bridge in summer, and the poplar trees turning gold in Autumn in Central Otago.
AUSTRALIA
Sitting watching the sun set at Dampier Peninsula in Western Australia.
INTERNATIONAL
Having time to stroll around the art galleries in Paris, stopping into cafes along the way. I have also never been to Croatia and like the idea of sailing around the coast. ‘

Exploring the ultimate outdoors

Kathryn Chung, MiNDFOOD Staff Writer / STYLE Concierge Editor

‘As someone who enjoys the outdoors, I’ve long dreamt of exploring the otherworldly landscapes of Iceland. From its many mystical waterfalls and ice caves, to vast black sand beaches and volcanic rock formations, a road trip around this stunning country is at the top of my bucket-list.’

So many…

Donna Duggan, MiNDFOOD Managing Editor

‘Top of the list is Sicily, one of the last regions of Italy I’ve yet to explore.
A cruise along the Kimberley coast. I’ve yet to visit Western Australia and this region looks spectacular.
Rajasthan has been on my bucket-list for over 30 years – I love everything about Indian culture, food, architecture, and I will visit Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur … one day.
My son is obsessed with Kenya. It’s on the list to take him on safari to Masai Mara.’

Experience the Northern Lights

Megan Bedford, MiNDFOOD Beauty Editor

‘Sweden is on my bucket-list as I have always loved winter travel with all the adventure, snow activities and rugging up warm. Going dog sledding and the chance to see the majestic northern lights as well as being immersed in the countries’ culture and design have meant this destination has long been a ‘must-do’ for me. ‘

Completely switch off

Lillian McHugh, Integration Director

‘I dream of switching off, and escaping to the endless horizons of the Maldives. The journey to getting to somewhere remote excites me. Swimming in the warm ocean, spending the day with the sun on my face (with SPF 50+ of course) and salt on my skin sounds the heaven.’

Food and powder in Japan

Janine Bourke, Account Director

‘Japan : The mountains during the ski season.
Why? Powder, and lots of it, so I’m told.

Aside from the amazing ski conditions and facilities that a super organised and efficiently well run Japanese ski resort would offer, there are other reasons.
The culture, the history, the style, the manners, the traditional architecture are all alluring. But surely the food would be top of the list.’

Back to our roots

Ashley Wallace, STYLE Editor

‘My cousin and I have always wanted to go to Scotland together, to go back to our Wallace roots! In fact, I’m craving a road trip throughout the UK – watching a lot of Location, Location, Location will do that to you. But my next big overseas trip will be (somewhat) closer to home in the US, and will include a cruise along the California coast. I’ve never done the drive from LA up to Santa Barbara so that’s something I’m hoping we get to do.’
