Australia is a photography lover's dream, but which landmarks and beauty spots are shared with the world the most?

Bondi Beach

With over a million and a half hashtags, Bondi Beach takes some beating when it comes to Insta-popularity.

The one-kilometre stretch of white sand to Sydney’s east is a must-visit destination for international visitors but it holds a special place in the hearts of Sydneysiders, too.

Fantastic for surfing, swimming or sampling its array of bars and restaurants, Bondi is a true Australian icon – and it’s got the popularity numbers to show for it.

Sydney Opera House

Attracting over eight million visitors a year and contributing over a billion dollars to the Australian economy, it boasts another impressive stat – over 800,000 instances on Instagram.

Great Barrier Reef

One of the world’s most fragile and threatened ecosystems, it’s the largest coral reef system on earth and stretches 2,300 kilometres up the eastern coast of Queensland.

An iconic fixture in the city’s harbourscape, the historic bridge also serves a critical practical purpose – carrying pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and also rail passengers across to Sydney’s North Shore from the CBD.

The famous bridge rounds out the top five with 550,000 hashtags.
