Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald celebrated the release of their new television series “FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans” in New York on Tuesday (January 23).

The A-listers play Truman Capote’s ‘Swans’ in Ryan Murphy’s second “Feud” limited series for U.S. network FX.

“We always love that when we empower each other and lift each other up, and tell a classic story of love and betrayal,” Sevigny told Reuters, who plays actress and author C.Z. Guest.

The TV series is based on the life of American novelist Truman Capote and a group of New York City socialite which he called “swans.”

Capote shot to fame in 1948 with his first novel, “Other Voices, Other Rooms”, and its suggestive photo of the then-23-year-old author.

He built upon his celebrity by moving easily in New York’s socialite circles and with the works “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and the self-styled nonfiction novel “In Cold Blood” that told the story behind the murder of a rural Kansas family.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Truman Capote since I was a teenager. And of course, I knew about his feud with the ‘Swans’ and just the opportunity to play a glamorous woman, a tortured woman, in a way, and, and to work with a group of other women. You know, we always love that when we empower each other and lift each other up and, and tell a classic, a classic story of love and betrayal,” said Sevigny.

British actor Tom Hollander takes on the role of Capote and said the story explores a new territory of the late author’s life.

“He’s a big enough character, an iconic character, obviously, but a large enough personality for there to be more than one version of him.”

Capote died of liver cancer in 1984 at the Los Angeles home of Joanne Carson, the ex-wife of late-night television host Johnny Carson.
