Standing desks at work might make us feel healthier but, long-term, our laziness is still a problem.
A review by Cochrane, a global independent network of researchers interested in health, suggests there is little to prove that people will stand at desks for a long period of time and that the benefits are therefore great.
Although the review found sit-stand desks decreased workplace sitting by between 30 minutes and two hours per day, the review authors concluded: “There is not enough high-quality evidence available to determine whether spending more time standing at work can repair the harms of a sedentary lifestyle.”
That is, if we stand more at work, we are likely to sit more in other areas of our life.
