18 months after her bombshell TV interview with Prince Harry and Meghan, Oprah Winfrey hopes the Sussexes will be able to 'make peace' with The Firm.

During the interview following ‘Megxit’ in 2020, accusations were made by Harry and Meghan that left the world in shock.

At the time, the Queen said the royal family was “saddened” to learn the extent of the challenges faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately,” read the statement released by Buckingham Palace.

Oprah has now spoken out and hopes that the tragic loss of the Queen can bring the two brothers, and their families, back together.

‘I think in all families – you know, my father passed recently, this summer – and when all families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s an opportunity for peacemaking,’ she told Extra recently. ‘And hopefully, there will be that.’

On Saturday, Harry and Meghan unexpectedly appeared with his elder brother William for a walkabout near Windsor Castle, in a show of unity that suggested the death of their grandmother could lead to a rapprochement.

A royal source described it as an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family.
